Healthier people. Stronger businesses.
Expert occupational health assessments and support for helping employers manage risk, reduce absence, and look after the people who keep their business moving.
What is Occupational Health?
Occupational health is specialist healthcare focused on the relationship between work and wellbeing. It helps employers understand how health affects a person’s ability to work and how work might affect their health.
Whether you’re managing a long-term absence, assessing a candidate for a safety-critical role, or fulfilling your legal duty of care, occupational health gives you clear, evidence-based guidance to make informed decisions.
At Biofit Health, our assessments are carried out by experienced clinicians. You’ll receive practical reports with clear recommendations not vague summaries that leave you none the wiser.
We work with employers of all sizes from small businesses managing their first long-term absence to HR teams overseeing multi-site workforces as well as individual employees referred by their employer or seeking independent advice.
Occupational health supports you when:
- An employee has been absent for four weeks or more
- A role requires medical clearance before starting
- You need to assess fitness to return to work safely
- Your workplace carries health or safety risks requiring ongoing monitoring
- You need independent advice on reasonable adjustments
- A member of staff is underperforming due to a suspected health condition
Our Occupational Health services
Everything your workforce needs. From one-off assessments to ongoing health programmes, our services are designed to reduce risk, support recovery, and keep your business running smoothly.

Case Management & Absence Support
Prolonged absence is costly in lost productivity, team morale, and management time. We provide structured clinical support to help employees recover and return to work, while giving employers the guidance they need to act fairly and lawfully.
Fitness to Work Assessments
An independent clinical opinion on an employee’s capacity to carry out their role, in full or with adjustments. Helps you make informed decisions without guesswork.
Return to Work Assessments
Structured support for phased returns after illness, injury, or surgery with practical recommendations for both employer and employee on what a safe, sustainable return looks like.
Sickness & Absence Management
Ongoing oversight for employees with complex or recurring health issues. We help you navigate difficult situations with clarity, compassion, and the right documentation to support your HR process.

Health Surveillance
If your employees are regularly exposed to workplace hazards: noise, vibration, dust, chemicals, or other controlled substances; you have a legal obligation to monitor their health over time.
We provide structured, legally compliant health surveillance programmes that detect early signs of work-related ill health before they become serious protecting your employees and your business.
Includes: audiometry, spirometry, skin assessments, HAV/WBVS screening. COSHH-compliant.

Safety Critical Medicals
Some roles demand that employees are in peak physical and mental condition not just for performance, but for safety. We carry out thorough medicals for safety-critical positions including drivers, engineers, construction workers, and lone workers.
Each assessment is tailored to the demands of the role and current regulatory standards, giving you documented evidence that your team is fit to carry out their duties safely.
Relevant for: Airside Driver Permits / DVLA / HGV / forklift operators, construction roles, pre-placement and periodic review.
We are proud to provide Airside Driver Permit Medicals for companies operating within Stansted Airport, with our clinic conveniently located just minutes away.

Substance misuse in the workplace is a serious safety and liability risk. Our confidential testing services help you maintain a safe working environment and meet your duty of care obligations without disrupting your operations.
We offer flexible testing arrangements to suit your workplace policy and risk profile.
Available as: pre-employment, random, for-cause, and post-incident testing. Chain of custody documentation provided.
How our process works
01
Initial Referral
We receive contact from you, the employer - providing us with the employee's full name, job role, and email address.
02
Employee Consent
Using the details provided, we issue the employee with Link 1: a consent form which grants the employer permission to share relevant occupational health information with us. This ensures full compliance and transparency at the outset.
03
Employer Case Submission
Once the employee's signed consent has been received, we forward the completed consent document to the employer along with Link 2 - our Case Management Referral Form. This form captures all relevant background information about the employee, their role, and the reason for referral, ensuring our practitioners have the full context needed to conduct a thorough and informed assessment. On submission, the form automatically generates a PDF summary which, together with the signed consent document, is returned to the employer for their records (example attached).
04
Occupational Health Assessment
Once consent and referral information have been received, one of our in-house qualified occupational health practitioners will make direct contact with the employee to conduct a thorough assessment. This includes a detailed review of the individual's current health status, the nature and impact of any medical condition or injury in the context of their role, functional capacity and work capability, attendance and presenteeism considerations, and any relevant psychosocial or workplace factors.
05
Report & Recommendations
Following the assessment, we produce a detailed occupational health report tailored to the individual's circumstances. This includes evidence-based recommendations for reasonable workplace adjustments, phased return-to-work planning where appropriate, guidance on any further referrals or treatment pathways, and clear, actionable advice for both the employer and, where applicable, the employee - all designed to support a safe, sustainable, and legally compliant outcome.

Frequently asked questions
A GP provides general medical care and treatment. Occupational health is specifically focused on the relationship between a person’s health and their work. An occupational health clinician assesses whether someone is fit to perform their job, what adjustments might be needed, and how work may be affecting their condition. They do not prescribe treatment or replace ongoing GP care.
Yes. Employees cannot be forced to attend an assessment. If they decline, we note this in our report and advise the employer to make decisions based on the information available. Refusing a referral does not protect an employee from employment decisions — it simply means the employer has less evidence to draw on. We can advise on how to communicate this sensitively.
No. Our reports focus on fitness for work and recommended adjustments. They do not include detailed clinical information about an employee’s diagnosis or medical history unless directly relevant and the employee has consented. Employees are always made aware of what will be included before the report is issued.
In most cases we can offer an appointment within 5–7 working days. For urgent cases, particularly where a safety-critical medical is required before an employee can start or return to a role we will do our best to accommodate shorter timescales. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
